Misha

This is my most recent work where I wanted to explore gender roles through clothing and accessories. My model is Japanese and we were going for Japanese business man/Yakuza member, but eventually we started playing with the mirror and got some great shots. It's fun to compare these to my older work with mirrors because they are absolutely in conversation with one another. The head being cut off, the disorienting feeling and again really interrogating what a portrait is in terms of including or excluding facial features and other aspects that are typically considered important for a portrait.
